This image of The Last Supper was made by Leonardo da Vinci and is very appealing to many people of all generations. The main aspect that makes it appealing is the excellent balance and drama shown in the painting. A great indication of this balance is having Jesus at the very center of it all, while allowing the twelve disciples to be evenly spread on both sides of Jesus. This gives it a very symmetrical look among the twelve, which allows a clear and organized look that adds to what is so appealing. 

The color scheme is fairly simplistic, yet it sets the tone perfectly. It consists mainly of soft yet natural colors, such as brown shades, blue shades, and red shades. These colors especially emphasize the realistic aspect of it all, considering it is such a unique and eventful moment. Additionally, the change in light while slowly creeping up into the middle continues to make Jesus stand out more, which is the ideal thing to do. With this light focus, naturally, our human eyes follow it, capturing the importance. 

The composition itself is also powerful. Since the primary focus is Jesus, as previously stated, even the backgrounds gravitate toward him, particularly the walls moving sharply into the middle, and how the ceiling creeps right above perfectly. Once again, it adds a realistic component to this very important moment, allowing the viewers of this painting to understand what the artist is trying to convey. 

I strongly believe that this artwork by Leonardo da Vinci is priceless. Everything is perfectly balanced so that viewers can imagine this important moment. The people, the background, the color, the light—everything included within this painting allows the focus on Jesus to be especially highlighted, which is the ideal course of action. Viewers such as myself can attain so much understanding from this painting through the artist's use of everything described throughout this essay.
